Luc Cianfarani is a composer, producer, and pianist based in New York City. As an artist with an equal grounding in both experimental and popular music, his work blends these worlds to create music that bridges the gap between the avant-garde and the mainstream. To this end, his work has been heard in a wide variety of circumstances, ranging from the concert hall to film festivals to the nightclub.
As a composer for film and media, Luc has scored over 35 short and feature films. His scores have been celebrated for their originality and composer . Recent projects include scoring the feature film Him starring Troy Baker, scoring and sound designing the binaural audio short film Sound Moves. Luc has worked as an orchestrator for Chad Cannon and on the music preparation team for Joe Hisaishi (Studio Ghibli). Additionally, Luc has orchestrated for plays that have appeared at some of New York's biggest venues, including Lincoln Center Theater (The Coast Starlight) and 2nd Stage Theater (Spain).
Luc holds an equal commitment to writing concert music, and his works have been performed by new music ensembles such as the Tak Ensemble and Splinter Reeds. He recently held residency at Avaloch Farm Music Institute where he composed and developed his work Resound for the Hartman-Stier Duo, which is scheduled to be premiered at the Contemporart Music Festival in Satu Mare, Romania in August, 2025. Further, his interdisciplinary collaboration Synesthete with Dutch visual artist Pierre van Dijk was presented at the Sound & Motion Exhibition in London, U.K. in 2025.
Luc completed his master's degree in composition from Boston University in 2020, where he studied under composer Joshua Fineberg, and his bachelor's degree in piano performance from the University of Virginia in 2018, where he studied under John Mayhood.
